How to install

Four steps and you're done.

1
Add to Slack

Click the button above

You'll be taken to the Slack authorisation screen. You need to be a workspace admin or have permission to install apps. If you're not sure, check with whoever manages your Slack workspace.

2
Authorise

Approve the permissions

Slack will show you what permissions Decision Referee is requesting. It only asks for what it needs: the ability to read slash commands and respond in channels. It does not read your existing messages or channels.

3
Use /invite

Invite the tool to your channel

You will need to use the Slack command /invite, then select "Add apps to this channel" and add the Decision Referee to your channel.

4
Use /upgrade

Choose a subscription

Once installed, open any Slack channel and type /upgrade. You'll be taken through the subscription flow via Stripe. Your trial gives you time to try it before committing to a paid plan.

/upgrade
5
Set up your context

Set up your firm context with /firm_profile

Run /firm_profile to tell Decision Referee about your team, your goals, and your priorities. This is what makes every check relevant to your situation rather than generic. The better your profile, the better the output.

/firm_profile

You're ready

Type /decide on your next real decision

That's it. No onboarding session, no training for your team. The next time something important comes up in Slack, just type the command and see what Decision Referee says.

/decide Should we push the deadline to get this right?
For admins

What Decision Referee actually needs.

We know that adding a third-party app to a workspace is not a decision you make lightly. Here's exactly what's involved.

Slash command access

Decision Referee only activates when someone uses a /decide command. It does not monitor channels or read existing messages.

Post responses in channels

It needs permission to post its structured response back into the channel where the command was used.

Workspace admin to install

Installing any Slack app requires admin or app-manager permissions. Once installed, any team member can use the /decide commands.

Data stays private

The content of your /decide commands is processed to generate the response and is not shared, sold, or used to train shared models.

DPA available

A Data Processing Agreement is available for all customers who need one. Contact us and we'll send it over.

Easy to remove

You can uninstall Decision Referee from your workspace at any time, directly from Slack's app management settings.

Common questions

Things people ask before installing.

Yes, installing any app in Slack requires admin or app-manager permissions. Once it's installed though, any member of the workspace can use the /decide commands straight away with no extra setup on their end.
No. Decision Referee only activates when someone explicitly types a /decide command. It does not passively monitor your channels, read existing messages, or have access to your message history.
The content you submit is processed to generate your response. It is not shared with third parties, sold, or used to train any shared AI models. If you need a full breakdown of how data is handled, our privacy policy and DPA cover this in detail.
Yes. Decision Referee offers a free trial you can start through Stripe when you install. You'll need to enter your payment details to begin, but you won't be charged until the trial ends. You can cancel before then and you won't pay anything.
Just go to your Slack workspace settings, find Decision Referee under installed apps, and click remove. It takes about ten seconds. No need to contact us, no hoops to jump through.
Email us at [email protected] and we'll get back to you. Response times depend on your plan: 48 hours on Light, 24 hours on Starter, 12 hours on Pro, and 24/7 call and email support on Unlimited.

The install takes about two minutes. Your first real decision check will probably take another two. That's all it takes to see whether this is useful for your team.
